Army of Ghosts – Dreaming (Shadow Club Remix)

Back in early 2025, Dom messaged me with an idea for an EP. He’d begun a remix of Phuture T’s Funky Drummer, which I’d helped release, and we discussed other tracks we could work on to celebrate the blog’s heyday, even considering getting them signed to a label.  Since I abruptly ended the blog in 2021, I thought this would be a fitting project to give the site a proper send-off.

However, we quickly abandoned the label idea, and I decided to open the blog for another year to showcase the tracks instead. Initially, the site was a way to indulge my creative side, but I feel I strayed from my original vision towards the end as I focused too much on premieres and discussing others’ work. While I still enjoy those aspects, the blog’s return is primarily about getting these new tracks heard and celebrating the producers I admire and sometimes collaborate with.

On the subject of collaboration, it’s worth noting that all these tracks will be released under the name Army of Ghosts. Contrary to popular belief, that’s not always just Dom and me. We came up with the name after collaborating with John from Foul Play, who also records under Skeleton Army as it was a great way to combine our names.

There is no fixed Army of Ghosts lineup, as it features a fluid mix of producers with Dominic or me as constant members. However, we don’t always work together on the tracks, and other producers have also contributed, especially on this project, all under the Army of Ghosts banner.

The original version of Dreaming is a prime example of this. Dom and I created the initial demo, but it truly took shape when I sent the parts to Infest. In fact, the majority of the original track is his work, and he doesn’t always receive the recognition he deserves.

This week, Dom finally got a vinyl copy of Dreaming.  While he enjoyed it, he never felt he contributed to the track. I disagree; without him, the original demo would never have existed.  Incidentally, we began another track that day with the working title Krustations, but I no longer have the parts.

I wanted a non-Amen mix of Dreaming for this project and instantly knew Shadow Club (also known as RQ) was the perfect person to do it. I’ve always admired his meticulous attention to detail and atmospheric depth in his music, and I’m delighted to say this remix is exactly what I hoped for. It’s drenched in reverb and texture and is the perfect way to kick off the Totems project.

We truly hope you enjoyed the remix, and are looking forward to uploading the next track for you soon.
